On preservation and revival Kyrgyz borzoi - Taigan

We are the group of specialists and hunters, the veritable experts of the ancient endemic and aboriginal breed of hunting dogs of the Kyrgyz borzoi, known as the taigan. We have created the National Society of The Kyrgyz Taigan, whose task who is presevation and revival of this celebrated breed.

Our concerted efforts began in 1987, from which time we have created a database of tribal population of the taigan, primary and correspondent nurseries, as well as affirming the standards of this breed. In the database, we have gathered data on every taigan; namely the description (87 statutes) and the measurements (63 parameters), photographs and their origin. Our primary nursery is on the shores of the majestic mountain lake, Issik-Kul - the pearl of Middle Asia. The framework of correspondent nurseries consists of hunters, falconers-berkutchis and other owners of taigans, who live in high mountain regions. The standard on breed was accepted by the Cinologist Council of Kyrgyz Republic, on December 6, 1995, and was adopted by the Management of Hunting and Land-survey of the Kyrgyz Republic, by Order Number 1,on February 1,1996.

We are happy that the interest in this unique and endemically breed does not subside. If you are interested in further information, please contact us. We are happy to assist in your research of the taigan.
